News Flash • Flock Public Safety Camera Update

In October of 2023, the Marshalltown City Council approved an agreement with Flock Safety for the implementation of a public safety camera program to be utilized by the Marshalltown Police Department.

Since 2017, the city has had a limited public safety camera program. This program was initially funded by the Marshall County Crime Stoppers organization. Crime Stoppers conducted fundraising efforts that subsequently led to public safety camera sites being located in Marshalltown and in rural Marshall County. In Marshalltown, the camera sites are:

  1. Center & Anson
  2. 3rd Avenue & Anson
  3. Parking lot behind Center Street Station bar

Although the 2017 program has been very limited, public safety cameras have assisted law enforcement in solving criminal offenses.

In 2022, the Marshalltown City Council designated $150,000.00 in local option sales tax funds to increase the number of public safety cameras in the system. The 2017 public safety cameras were installed and maintained by RACOM. When the Marshalltown Police Department began research on expanding the public safety camera program, it was learned that much of the current equipment would need upgrading.

A SKY News presenter was left clamoring for words as she appeared to be completely unaware of where to look while on air.

The moment made uncomfortable viewing as her guests grinned through gritted teeth as their hosts made the faux pas.

Beth Rigby, a leading presenter with Sky, appeared to lose her usual composure and professionalism as she shouted out for directions on where to look.

On her program, Politics Hub, she was attempting to throw an advert break as the chaos quickly ensured.

Amid a fiery debate, Beth was forced to step in as she attempted to take control of the situation,

She told her guests: “I don’t want to break it up but I’ve got to go to a break.”

The star, dressed in a ruffled white top, then appeared to look around the studio for guidance as she did not know quite where to look or what to do next.

Beth then loudly barked: “Which camera am I on?”
